September 17

We drove 2 hours to the Akron Area.  On the way, we passed an exit sign for Mogadore.  It brought back memories of the I Am Number Four scifi books.  The bad aliens were called Mogadorians.  And Number Four, the good alien, lives in the town of Paradise, which just happens to be 54 minutes away.  I bet the actual Mogadorians aren’t real happy with one Pittacus Lore, author of the series. 😊 Unless one is from Ohio, who knew?!

From there we continued on to Cuyahoga Valley National Park.  No entrance fee.  I mean, we never have to pay one because we have Senior Passes, but this park doesn’t even charge one.  We went to Brandywine Falls, which was a bit of a trickle, but made for a pretty picture.  A man there showed me a picture of the same falls from back in May.  It was Niagara in comparison.  We drove through the park, south to north, then headed for Kirtland.

We got to take the tour of the Kirtland Temple.  It was so very different from the tour we took back in 2005 focusing on spiritual manifestations and events that took place in this temple.  I am so glad our Church owns this property now.  Then we toured Joseph and Emma’s home, and finally went down the hill to Historic Kirtland and took the 2 hour tour of that area.  By then, the site was closing, and dusk was coming on.

So we headed to Lake Erie, Headlands Beach, about 20 minutes away, and went wading for a few minutes.  That’s Great Lake #4.  Then 45 minutes to our hotel in Twinsburg.
